E N D
Question 2 - Effect of main prod combined with digipack The effect of the main product combined with the digipack is that it is presented with good quality when both factors are together. With the main product, being the film, displayed on its own the effect is not as significant as it would be if both the film and the digipack where combined. The digipack shows the presentation of the album cover as a stronger influence on the song video because both of them go together in genre. I also made a magazine advert which displays the album and song and digipack all together in an advertisement that all together makes the effect seem much stronger to an audience and specifically a target audience being in its specific music genre. This follows forms and conventions of real media products because real media products have digipacks which follow in the genre style of the music they create, for example ‘The Beatles : Revolver’ album’s strange and new look on album covers matched the style of music they where creating. The main product is a fusion of that type of depressed genre with the style of a modern type of musical video together. This makes the main product on its own capable of having an effect of possibly purchasing this product to an audience.
The product and the digipack combine to make a strong selling effect. Hopefully the combined products would cause an audience to buy the finished product. This makes the combined products give the effect that it is looked at genuinely enough to result in the main product and digipacks being bought.
Question 3 – how did you use media technologies in the construction, research and planning and evaluation stages Media technologies where used in the construction stages of the music video. Most importantly is final cut pro. Final cut pro is a software program that enabled us to edit our film to a profession level. For our research we did a lot on the types of genre our video was going to represent. We used the internet and sites like YouTube and Wikipedia to evaluate musical videos and distinguish between what types of genres represent what type of music. We did of course already have background knowledge but to research into our genres music videos helped us plan what our video was going to look like. The planning stages initially required using what we had researched and putting our ideas into action through drawn out story boards. We shared drawing and writing and made the storyboard in sync with the music. It was important to sync the music with the initial storyboard because the song has highs and lows, both seriously effecting the types of shots that should be involved in our video. The evaluation was mainly based in Microsoft PowerPoint. Its features matched exactly what I needed to display my knowledge on the produced film. PowerPoint can display screenshots representing scenes in our video, then we would use these scenes to analyze our product.
Question 4 – what have you learnt from audience feedback? Using audience feedback as a group we have learnt that our video needed to sync with the emotions transpired from the music onto the video to get the full effect. Our video matched the power of the music in some parts but lacks the correct conventions that are needed in the video in other parts. For example it was noted out to us that the end of the video doesn’t quite match the music. Also that the start of the video is very slow, yes the lip syncing is apparent but the actual speed of events happening is too slow to match the music and the full effect is not apparent. Other audience members described the music video as challenging to the codes and conventions that might be found in such a fast song. But other members found it correct because the depressing nature of the song goes well with the slow start to the film. Audience members liked our video as a whole and thought it went well with the song. They would watch it again. People specifically liked how well the drum beat goes with our video towards the escalating music parts. For example when Aaron walks into the house the drum beat matches the shot speed of the clips shown. As a beat would happen so to the shot would change.
