  3. Historic Archiving • A major change • 3 DServers => 1 DServer • Old release : • HdbManager, Hdbtc, DataCollector, Dhdb • New release : • HdbArchiver

  4. Historic Archiving • A minor change • Nothing really new : • Same way of polling • Same way of filing • Same methods used to access the database

  5. Historic Archiving • Why the change ? • Makes the deployment much easier and simple • Solves some communications problem • Minimize data conversion • Prepare the coming of the events

Historic Archiving • What changed • A new device was created : HdbArchiver • It inherits the polling task from the old DataCollector • It inherits the filing task from the old Dhdb • A new library was created : HdbManager • It inherits some task from the old HdbManager • It inherits some task from the old HdbTc • It inherits some task from the old HdbManagerGUI

  7. Historic Archiving • What can we do today ? • Trigger/Stop an archiving sequence • Archive following different modes : Periodic On Difference Relative Absolute • Archive the following different formats : Scalars, Spectrums, Images • A basic load balancing can done on a group of HdbArchivers

  8. Historic Archiving • What remains to be done • A DServer that includes all the HdbManager library’s functionalities. • Update the database schema : • (the fields Dhdb and DataCollector should be replaced by a single field Filer) • A complete tools for extraction • The migration to events

  9. Intermediate Archiving • What ‘s new : • A DServer named HdbFastArchiver was created • It’s almost a clone of HdbArchiver. • The difference : During a defined time, it saves data into a file buffer first.

Intermediate Archiving • What can we do today ? • Trigger/Stop an archiving sequence • Archive following different modes : Periodic, Absolute, Relative, On Difference • Archive the following different formats : Scalars, Spectrums, Images • A basic load balancing can done on a group of HdbFastArchivers • Parameterizethe buffer’s living time, before it’s moved to the database
