  1. A CASE OF BRONCHIAL ASTHMA By Dr. Jawahar Shah M.D.(Hom)

  2. NOTE: To protect the patient’s identity, we have used a model’s picture or photographs for the purpose of presentation.

  3. CASE OF ASTHMA I saw a patient who was posted at the Japanese consulate. He was briefed about details required for Homoeopathic treatment. Also he was given a history form which described clearly what details had to be given.

  4. In spite of this not much of a history was written. Only a few lines mentioned his complaint. This is how the interview went...

  5. Name? • "Mr. ............" • Age? • " 42" • What do you do ? • " I work"

  6. What work? Describe nature • " At the consulate" • What is the problem? • " Cold, cough, asthma" • Can you describe your attack • " I feel breathless"

  7. (In my mind I was thinking " everybody feels breathlessness with asthma!") • Could you give me a clear symptom as to what causes your problem? • "No" • Any other problem? • "No"

  8. What kind of food do you like? • "Everything" • Do you have any tension ? • "No" • Can you give me some more details about family members? • "They are fine"

  9. Anything else? • "No" • Would you like to share any other problems of your life? • "No"

  10. Pause... The patient then asks “Will you give me my medicine now ?" I said "Yes"

  11. Rubrics 1) Abrupt 2) Abrupt speak when obliged to. 3) Answer aversion to

  12. We arrived at remedy by using the world’s largest database homoeopathic software - Hompath.

  13. Dear Reader, we are happy / it is our pleasure to inform you that Speciality Clinic is powered by the Homeopathic Software with the World’s Largest Database, HOMPATH. The information given in the subsequent slides is to educate the Reader on the intricate working of the Clinic in the treatment of the patient.

  14. Treatment: The patient was given 1 dose of Germanium (200)

  15. GERMANIUM. The main feature of the Germanium personality is the strong aversion to take up any responsibility for anything on their shoulders.

  16. They are the people who want to avoid responsibilities and have a tendency to put the blame on others, once something goes wrong. Fear of failure is the main feeling underneath such a behaviour.

  17. They do not like people to dominate them. That is because they do not like to be controlled. Right from childhood they don't like to be interrupted. They treat work, study or any order as mere formality and do not put their heart and soul in it.

  18. Theattitude is not solution oriented and is more oftenproblem oriented.Work is done in such a way that nobody can holdthem responsiblefor any fault. So they avoid taking decisions. They willputon record that whatever action was takenwasonthe orders of the superiors.

  19. They can mask their emotions very well and present a different face to the world. The Germanium personality feels that he is a prisoner who cannot expresshimself fully.

  20. Germanium can never be a philosopher. He has to control his movement, his speech, and knows that he can pass certain comments only. He knows that he cannot criticize his superiors or their functioning. The answers are limited, controlled and measured.

  21. His perfection is limited to the extent of carrying out the orders given, in the most precise way. Survival is his only commitment. Otherwise there isn't any commitment or attachment to anything else. The nectar of life is absent.

  22. Germanium is suited to people who work as Government servants, examiners, supervisors, dictators who control their emotions, information and conclusions. They are like buds who have not opened but have lost contact with the plant.

  23. After 4 weeks, the asthma, cold & cough were better. After about 10 weeks of placebo, the patient sends a letter and card of thanks mentioning that he is much better. "I think I am enjoying my life more than I ever did!" he said.

  24. Reason : Lack of communication, abrupt and irresponsible. Result : Expression of emotions after the treatment and relief in pathological condition.

  25. Learning: • Physician should be able to identify the characteristic symptom even when the patient does not say it. • Observation and selection of the appropriate rubric is important.
