  2. Let’s gather some information- • Why are you taking this course? (could be more than one reason) • Need credit? • Want to learn more about how to learn to help yourself in college? • Gathering information to decide if you want to teach? • Heard it was an easy grade to boost your GPA? • You transferred and this was the only course available other than nuclear physics?

  3. Information Gathering • May use teaching as a “backup career” in case you don’t make it in your first choice as a….(fill in the blank)? • Other reasons for taking EDUC 110?

  4. Information Gathering • How many are taking this course because they have already decided that they want to teach? (Write if have already decided to teach on 3x5 card) • It is fine if you have not yet decided if you want to teach or not (Write that on the 3x5 card)

Purposes of EDUC 110 • The purposes and objectives as stated in the syllabus • To help you develop and awareness and complexity of your own learning, the complexity of teaching and learning, how to improve your ability to learn, and applications for you as a potential teacher to effectively teach students • To help you decide if teaching is the correct career path for you, and if it is, what level might be best for you
