  1. Do You Know These Things About Orly Airport Paris? Orly airport is located at a distance of almost 20km from central Paris, at the locality of Orly. Before the establishing of Charles de Gaulle airport, the Orly airport acted as the main hub of flights. Historic Significance The airport was originally known as ‘Villeneuve-Orly Airport’ and it was available to southern suburbs of Paris in 1932, as a secondary airport (first being Le Bourget). In World War II, the Orly airport was occupied by German Luftwaffe, which used the airport as a combat airport, stationing many of its important vehicles.
