  1. Invention Project Due: Monday, February 10 (beginning of class)

  2. Predictions: Write these questions and answer them in your spiral. 1. What would it mean to be able to grow more grain and cotton? 2. What would it mean to communicate and travel more quickly? 3. How might it feel to do factory work instead of farm work? 4. How will new inventions change your country?

  3. Part 1: Textbook Reading Read Chapter 11, Section 1 & 2 (pg. 325-337). Answer the 4 questions again but this time using complete sentences and use the information you learned as evidence for your answers. Quiz grade (25 points per question).

  4. Part 2: Advertisement Create an advertisement for one invention from the Industrial Revolution time period (1790s - mid 1800s). • Must be an invention from Chapter 11. • Can be small (copy paper), or large (poster board). It can be hand drawn, or printed. *If you have poor handwriting I recommend you print your project.

  5. Advertisement Requirements: Must include the following: • Name of the invention • Name of the inventor • What does it do? How does it work? • How does it make life easier? • Include a picture • Make it colorful & eye catching

  6. Grading: • 50 points for information • 20 points for neatness (spelling/grammar) • 20 points for creativity • 10 points (convince me to buy it) = 100 points (major grade)
