WP2: Current Documentation Methodologies WP Leader Isabel Rodriguez MaribonaTECNALIA
Objectives • To collect information about existing models, procedures and concepts for the tracking and global knowledge of cultural issues; described in Deliverable 2.1 • To identify the key players in Cultural Heritage management in the different EU countries, and the classification methods of targeted buildings used in Europe; described in Deliverable 2.1 • To assess the most usable and interesting strategies, concepts and tools of Identity Card models for future assessment of the EU CHIC directive; described in Deliverable 2.1 • To identify future needs on RTD development for the establishment of methodological concept all over the EU; described in Deliverable 2.2
Task 2.1Collection, study and analysis of the state of the art relevant for CHIC (L: TECNALIA, M: all partners) • Identification of past and running experiences addressed to the preservation of Cultural Heritage, using protocols for data collection and analysis • Detailed state of the art, to collect most of the existing information and assemble all the existing methodologies • Detailed listing on the key players in terms of EU Cultural Heritage conservation, as well as collection of the different systems to classify targeted buildings • Organization of a workshop to invite relevant experts and users of collections (members of Advisory Network and other networks relevant for CHIC) to discuss about their experiences and knowledge as well to learn about their experiences in development of data collections.
Task 2.2 Assessment of Identity Card models (L: ITAM, M: TECNALIA, BBRI, TECH, UNIBO, UNIFE) • Evaluation of Task 2.1 results, settlement and classification of heritage cataloguing systems • Establishment of a strategy method and analysis of all the collected data in order to develop a common scheme • Assessment on the existing methodologies and Identity card concepts, for future assessment on EU CHIC Identity Card directive • Establishment, during the evaluation process, of other criteria for the assessment of existing models
Task 2.3Identification of needs for futureresearch priorities (L: TECNALIA, M: Fraunhofer, ITAM, IIT, UNIFE) • Identification of the present needs and lacks regarding the development of strategies and tools for implementing the Identity Card concept all over the EU • Development of a proposal and a roadmap to establish future research priorities, at National and European/International level • Generation of a complementation of the existing models with the knowledge in a near future to guarantee the feasibility of these procedures.
Significant results of the wp Collection, study and analysis of the state of the art relevant for EU CHIC. A questionnaire covering preliminary aspects of cataloguing systems was distributed amongst EU-CHIC beneficiaries and the Advisory Committee, and a detailed study of 30 protocols has been completed to collect a meaningful sample of the existing information on Cultural Heritage protocols; Assessment of Identity Card models. As each of the collected protocols follow unique procedures their methodologies have been compared in order to draw conclusions on the best way to develop a hypothetically optimal procedure. This study has been devoted to the main elements of the concepts of preservation and sustainability of Cultural Heritage - location, monitoring, management, diagnosis of damages, materials and intervention techniques - in order to create a complete lifetime history of the heritage item. The first EU-CHIC Workshop was organised in order to assess the Identity Card model;
Significant results of the wp • Identification of needs for future research priorities. On the basis of previous task results, research topics developed in recent years were analysed with the objective of establishing research requirements to promote new strategies, concepts, methodologies and techniques for improving knowledge on cultural heritage.
