Membership Individuals responsible for variety testing programs from all agricultural experiment stations and commercial industry
Objectives 1. Determine status of crop variety testing programs in the Southern region 2. Determine area(s) where a cooperative effort would enhance overall crop variety evaluation programs 3. Develop innovative and improved procedures and techniques for conducting crop variety evaluation and data generation leading to variety recommendation of crops in the Southern Region.
SCC-33 Objectives • Improve variety testing in participating states through development of standard test procedures, use of check varieties, and commonality of reporting variety test results • Provide names and addresses of variety test personnel to facilitate cooperation • Provide an interface for discussion and resolution of problems common to public institutions and private organizations. • Recognize individuals making significant contributions to variety testing programs • Expedite the transfer of information to crop producers and agribusiness clientele
Significant Milestones 1985 - Private sector companies invited to participate with public sector counterparts 1989 - Directory of variety testing personnel developed 1990 - Standard varieties recommended annually by IEG for soybean and corn variety trials 1993 - Service awards were adopted 2006 – SRIEG changed to SCC 2010 – First National Meeting (SCC-33 + UTCA)
