The Little Book Revelation 10:1-11
The Parenthetical between Judgments • This chapter is between the sixth and seventh trumpet, • There are interludes between the sixth and seventh seals and trumpets and bowls. Judgments from Heaven are temporarily suspended. • This information does not advance the Revelation’s events. • This chapter serves as a interlude which reveals God’s grace and mercy in the midst of judgment.
The Mighty Angel This is a good Angel. The Greek word “allon” is used so its another of the same kind. The attributes of the angel are symbols of judgment. This angel is given great authority and power over the earth as his feet rest on the land and sea. This angels is about to execute terrible judgment.
The Mighty Angel He has a “little book” (Gk. “Bibliaridion”) not the “scroll” of (Gk. “biblion”) of Revelation 5:1. The information contained on the scroll is Revelation 15-16. The content of Revelation 15-16 is sweet and bitter at the same time. Principle: a knowledge of things to come should give every believer a burden for the lost to escape this awful time.
The Mighty Angel Once he roars, the seven thunders speak concerning their judgments. However, their messages were sealed up to remain a mystery, perhaps to be revealed by latter revelation from the Two Witnesses. The seven thunders might correspond to he sevenfold “voice of the Lord” in Psalm 29. (refers to phases of the Great Flood and mercy in judgment)
Principle: God delays judgment as long as He can. While God has revealed much about the end times, there are secrets that God withholds until the right time has come. Example: The 8 mysteries of the New Testament not revealed in the Old Testament)
The Mysteries • The Mystery Kingdom (5th facet of God’s Kingdom Program) Mat. 13 • The Five Mysteries of the Church • Seven Stars and Seven Lampstands (Rev. 1:20) • The Mystery Body (Eph. 3:1-12) • The Mystery of the Indwelling Messiah (Col. 1:24-29) • The Church as the Bride of the Messiah (Eph. 5:22-23) • The Rapture/Translation (1 Cor. 15:50-58)
The Mysteries • The Mystery of Israel’s hardening (Rom. 9:1-11:36) • The Mystery of the seven climatic judgments and the defeat of the two Satanic mysteries. (Rev. 10:5-7) • The First Satanic mystery: Mystery Babylon. (Rev. 17:1-18) • The Second Satanic mystery: The Mystery of Lawlessness and the Lawless One. (2 Thess. 2:1-12)
The Mystery in Revelation 10 • The sounding of the 7th Trumpet will end the mystery of God. • The 7th Trumpet contains the Bowl judgments so it is a series of 7 judgments. • Thus, the content of the little scroll is information regarding the 7th Trumpet Judgment and the subsequent Bowl Judgments. • The mystery is that there will be a series of seven climatic judgments that will destroy the satanic mystery of the man of sin. • The result of the 7th Trumpet (Rev. 11:15-19 & 16:17-21)
Principles of the Mysteries: The mysteries are not to be understood by unbelievers but by believers. (Matt. 13:10-17) Furthermore, they will only be understood by believers who “hear and understand” which requires the discipline of study. The mysteries will be opposed by Satan. He is working on unbelievers to reject he Gospel and believers to neglect the study of the Word of God by accepting shallow teaching and focusing on experiences.
Principles of the Mysteries: Messiah’s mystery is absolute submission to God’s law, Satan’s mystery is absolute lawlessness. Mystery Babylon (the False religious system) is Satan’s opposition to the true mystery. They are the key to understanding why God doesn’t answer every question we have now but eventually will in His timing.
