Students for Students 1.700 videos for 27 schools (and more…) Serge de Beer Coordinator Education & ICT Lentiz educational group and Board member Students for Students project (responsible for technology)
Why the Dutch government is funding educational innovation? By 2017 a lot of our colleagues will be retired
Students for Students is one ofthese innovations. • Older students teach younger students in their own way which is recorded on video • Every participating school makes 30 videos about 2 subjects • Teachers will check the contents for errors and didactic aspects • A special portal is created to host the videos and streamline the review process
Our goals: • Take away pressure from the teachers who have to repeat lessons over and over again. The videos take over part of the instruction: teachers need less instruction time and can spend this time tutoring individual students. • See if students get better results when they learn from peers through video lessons. • Research in cooperation with the University of Rotterdamabout using video in learning
Show, demonstrate and display… Creating video with students: - YouTube ‘Trailer of a science video about density’ - The result: ‘The science video’.The upload and review proces: - www.lvoorl.nl portal (uploader, reviewer, editorial board)- Example: phase transition- MediaMosa: the portal is free to useUsing the video’s:- Combined with other media: using video and the iPad- Share: free access for all schools through Wikiwijs.nl
The (near) future for Lentiz International project to explore the useof 3D video(combined withother media)
