  34. Case Study Elizabeth is a 62 year old lady. Over the last few weeks she has found her hands and feet, and sometimes her knees, have sometimes been painful and stiff. On further questioning this seems to have probably been the case for a couple of months, although it is only in the last few weeks that it has become more of a problem. Elizabeth says that it is often more noticeable in the mornings. The other day she had a long train journey - after sitting still for about four hours her feet in particular were quite stiff and painful. She seems otherwise well.

  35. Questions • What features might make you suspect that Elizabeth may have RA? What other things might explain her symptoms?

  36. Worksheet • Finish the worksheet on skeletal diseases • Highlight or mark up text for important information and symptoms • Draw conclusions and write your diagnosis for the patient
