Vol. 1 No. 2 July 13, 2009 Week In Review After hitting just three home runs in 209 at-bats for the Dodgers last year, designated hitter Andruw Jones hit three in one game against the Angels Wednesday night. The Rangers’ 8-1 win gave them sole possession of first place in the American League West. Rangers record: 3-4 Rangers overall record: 48-39 Rangers Notes By The Numbers  After taking two of three in Anaheim, the Rangers lost three of four in Seattle to fall a game and a half behind the Angels, who swept the visiting Yankees  Jones’ three-home run performance Wednesday was the first for the Rangers since Brad Wilkerson hit three – also against the Angels – on July 3, 2007 in Arlington. With career highs in home runs (22) and RBI (53), Cruz will join teammates Josh Hamilton and Michael Young at Busch Stadium in St. Louis Tuesday for his first All-Star Game.  In his last two starts, rookie right-hander Tommy Hunter has given up just one run on seven hits with seven strikeouts in 11-plus innings Jones powers Rangers into first  Cruz hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning Friday in Seattle to help the Rangers secure a 6-4 win over the Mariners and remain in first place in the AL West. A first-time All-Star, Nelson Cruz will also compete in the State Farm Home Run Derby Monday night.
