160,000 Arizona children live with grandparents or other extended family members • Often receive little or no financial assistance • 1 of 5 foster youth will become homeless after age 18 • Only ½ will be employed by age 24 • 3% will earn a college degree
First Visit • hand-made quilt • cloth shopping bag • stuffed animal • Children • 5 outfits (tops & bottoms) • 1 pair pajamas • 2 pairs underwear • 2 pairs socks • 1 pair flip flops • 1 pair shoes • Hygiene products • Babies • 5 outfits • 5 onesies • 24 diapers • 1 package baby wipes • 2 receiving blankets • 3 bibs • 1 can of formula
10,000 hours of volunteer time given by 240+ individuals Individual contributions account for 90% of annual funding Major partners include: Salt River Project, Wells Fargo, Season for Sharing, Phoenix Suns, Arizona Diamondbacks, Schmidt Westergard, Mesa Hohokams, Diane & Bruce Halle Foundation, QuikTrip, Rotary International, Ford Credit, Auto-Owners Insurance, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
2,000 K-12 youth provided with backpacks and essential school supplies • 9,000 gifts and 6,000 books distributed to foster families through JaKelle's Christmas Box • 24 dorm rooms furnished to aged-out foster youth at ASU
