  1. A man stepped on a banana peel on a crowded train platform causing him to slip and fall. He was rushed to the urgent care where he was examined and sent away with ice and aspirin.

  2. The next day when he woke up in the morning, he felt excruciating pain, with his one leg numb and shaking. His physician took an x-ray, but nothing as such appeared in it. He was prescribed for medication and advised to rest.

  3. Despite undergoing occupational therapies and follow-ups, there was no improvement in his symptoms. Upon another doctor’s advise, he then decided to go for an MRI which revealed ruptured disc and a bone chip.

  4. Although his eventual back surgery cured his back pain, delayed treatment caused permanent damage to the nerve. The man now suffers with permanent numbness in two toes, his heel and back of his leg causing him to walk with a limp.

  5. Delayed diagnosis can cause permanent damage to the body. It is thus advisable to insist on an MRI after an accident, be it a serious accident, a minor fender bender or a slip and fall.

  6. Undergoing a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) can help detect the exact cause of pain and inflammatory conditions, including hard to identify back and neck injuries, abnormalities of the knee and hip arthritis and precise location and size of brain and spinal cord abnormalities.

  7. MRIs are used for a variety of diagnostic purposes and to rule out certain diseases. An MRI scan shows the exact problem in the exact location inside of the body.
