  6. Fresh Water Uses in Society • 70% of fresh water is used to grow food • 83,000,000 more people need to eat & drink every year • Americans use 100 gal/day; 3rd world countries use < 5 gal/day • We’re draining Aquifers faster than the natural recharge rate due to our population growth
