  2. Measuring Dry Ingredients • Examples are flour, powdered sugar • Steps: • Spoon flour into sifter • Sift flour over a bowl or plate • Lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cup. Do not tap, shake or pack flour into cup • Level with a straight edge

  3. Measuring dry ingredients that aren’t sifted • Such as white or granulated sugar • Lightly spoon sugar into dry measuring cup. Do not tap, shake or pack flour into cup • Level with a straight edge

  4. Measuring sticky stuff • Such as brown sugar, peanut butter, or shortening • Lightly spoon ingredients into dry measuring cup. Pack the ingredients to eliminate air bubbles • Level with a straight edge • For brown sugar, it should hold the shape of the cup when inverted • For peanut butter or shortening, remove with a rubber scraper

  5. Measuring liquids • Use a liquid measuring cup • Put the liquid into the cup and check it on a flat surface at eye level • Do not hold the cup while trying to measure it

  6. Measuring Laboratories • You will work in small groups of 3-4 • Choose one person to be the recorder • Choose one person to be the demonstrator (these roles should change at each station) • The demonstrator should practice measuring the ingredient correctly, with help from the other team members. • The recorder will use the camera at the station to record the demonstration • When you have finished, move on to the next station • Be sure all team members are shown in the video at each station
