Things you should know: • This project is worth FIVE BRONZE GRADES. That’s almost 30% of your six weeks grade. • It will be due at the end of the six weeks. That means you have six weeks to prepare. • If you wait until the last minute to prepare, please do not expect sympathy from me.
STEP ONE • Select ONE of the three passages listed on the bulletin board at the front of the classroom. • Locate the passage in your textbook, and read over it. • If more than one person is required, organize your group.
STEP TWO • Copy the passage you have selected from your textbook. If there is more than one part, you must copy ALL of them. • Highlight your lines, if there is more than one part. • Copies MUST be HANDWRITTEN, and are worth 50 points of your Grade.
STEP THREE • Memorize your lines. Ask for help with pronunciation of difficult words. • Practice with your group. You will have some class time, but you will also need to practice outside of class. • Decide on any “extra” touches you want to add (costumes, props, music, etc.).
STEP FOUR • Once you have decided, fill out and turn in a written form stating which scene you will perform, and who you will perform with. • A week before the performance deadline, you will schedule the day and time you wish to perform. • A few before and after-school performance times are available, but will be filled on a “first come, first serve” basis.
STEP FIVE • PERFORM! • Your grade will be based on the following: • Memorization (do you know your lines?) • Staging (entrances, exits, movement, etc.) • Believability (say your lines with feeling) • Creativity! (costumes, props, music, etc.)
