FAS Safe Pass Programme • FAS Safe Pass Programme was developed following a CITC initiative • Consultation between FAS and Social Partners • Incorporated into the Construction Safety Partnership Plan (CSPP) October 1999 • Piloted and Evaluated in first 6 months of CSPP. • Launched October 2000 by the Minister for Labour
FAS Safe Pass Programme • Safe Pass is targeted at construction workers • One day Health and Safety Awareness Programme • Participants will be registered on a National Data Base • Participants receive a FAS Safe Pass Registration Card • Participants must update their safety training every four years
FAS Safe Pass Programme While complying with relevant safety legislation it must not be seen to relieve employers of their statutory duty to provide other appropriate health and safety training for their employees
FAS Safe Pass Programme The Aims of the Programme • Raise the standard of safety awareness in the construction industry • Ensure that all site personnel undergo basic health and safety awareness training with the view to making a positive contribution to the prevention of accidents and avoidance of health hazards • Maintain a register of personnel who have received such training • To provide all participants with a FAS Safe Pass registration card, which will indicate that, the holder has attended a formalcourse in health and safety awareness
