The Story Line Rising Actions/Complications: • Characters: • Ed Kennedy • Audrey • Marv Harris • Ritchie Sanchez • Ma Kennedy • the Doorman (dog) • When Ed receives the ace of hearts, he realizes that this card is telling him to help his best friends • Ed receives the ace of spades, but he has to pay $20 to a boy who took his dog and card Climax: Marv ends up having a 2-and-a-half-year-old daughter that only he, his ex-girlfriend and her family know about; that is why he never spends his money: he saves it for the child to pay off his guilt • Ed receives the ace of clubs after being beat up by two guys who broke into his house • He can’t bring himself to shoot the rapist that he found at one of the addresses on the ace of diamonds • Ed finds his first ace in the mail: the diamonds. Conflict: Ed stops a bank robbery by accident. Resolution: Will Ed ever stop receiving cards, or will he be the messenger forever? Basic Situation: Ed Kennedy is an underage cabdriver that leads a relatively normal life.
