Course Choices for Next Year Course Selection Sheets Grade 9 Grade 10 • Students must take English, Mathematics, Science, and Careers & Civics • If students have not completed Canadian History (CHC2D) in Grade 9 they must select the course(s) for Grade 10 • Students may select one or more Grade 11 courses as indicated on the Course List with an asterisk (*) Grade 10 Grade 11 • Students must take EnglishandMathematics (and should look at Groups!) • Grade 11 students often select one or two Grade 12 courses

Educational Career Development • Workshops are provided for each grade level • Grade 11 and 12 students are invited to attend • Ontario University Fair in September • University Presentations at Crestwood in the Fall • University Open Houses: Fall and March Break • University Tours – can be arranged on an individual basis • Workshops on applying to U.S. and Out-of–Province Canadian Universities • Scholarship and Supplemental Application Workshops

General Admission Requirements for Ontario Universities • High School Diploma (OSSD) • English 12 (ENG4U) and five additional Grade 12 U/M courses • The university and program determine prerequisite Grade 12 courses and publish the previous year’s “grade range.” This is the average of the best six Grade 12U/M courses, including prerequisites • Many programs have additional requirements such as interviews, portfolios and essays See specific university calendars for details!
Importance of Grade 11 Marks? • Grade 11 is the foundation for Grade 12 courses • All Grade 11 and 12 marks are seen by the Universities - “Full Disclosure” • Some Ontario universities have started to offer very early conditional acceptancein December and January of Grade 12 year, based on excellent Grade 11 marks plus any previously completed Grade 12 courses • U.S. applications use final Gr. 11marks and any completed grade 12 marks for Early Decision

Courses in Science, History, French, English, Art and Economics Advanced Placement (AP) Course • University level course studied here • Extra time and effort • AP Exams in May • Excellent preparation for university studies • U.S. universities favour AP candidates
What Parents can do... • Talk about future goals • Inquire about results of Career Cruising or Career Studies in-class activities • Review the diploma requirements • Help to plan for postsecondary education • Course Selection Sheet is signed & returned by February 11th • Support & encourage community involvement for the diploma requirement
