Luke 9:57-62  As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” 58 Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” 59 He said to another man, “Follow me.” But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.” 60 Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” 61 Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.” 62 Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and

  4. Introduction • Living daily to wholeheartedly follow Jesus • Desperately lost, having no idea what they are doing • Standing against God and His truth • Can’t stand in the middle of the road • Nation being polarized in times we are living in • Need to be “all in”

  5. Cost To Following Jesus • Appealing to follow Jesus, He was the miracle worker • It’s cool to follow Jesus isn’t it? • Following Jesus is not what you think it is • Following Jesus should not make me fat and comfortable • Means saying goodbye to a life of ease

  6. Walking Away from Things That Hold Me • Gospel ought to make us uncomfortable • Let me go and bury my father • Abandonment to the things of this world • We make idols out of our time and our priorities • God commissions us to give first fruits of our time to Him

  7. Not Looking Back • When you look back, you think, “If only” • There’s this reason I can’t go forward and that reason • Keep your eyes fixed on the prize • God is calling me to write a new word on my whiteboard • Firm resolve to obey His commands today • Be obedient today!

  8. Conclusion • Cost to Following Jesus • Walking Away from Things That Hold Me • Not Looking Back
