  4. Facilities Design Common Purpose of Water Supply : • Potable Water - Drinking, irrigation, washing • Flush Water - Toilet flushing • Fire Service - Sprinkler, hose reel • Commercial Uses - Water scrubber, A/C cooling, fish breeding • Recreational Uses - Swimming pool, water feature

Facilities Design Water Carrying Facilities : • Pipes - Galvanized steel, copper, UPVC, ductile iron - Non-ferrous material • Water Tank, Swimming Pool - Reinforced concrete, fibre-glass - Waterproofing; tiled finish - Level control device; enable re-circulation • Water Pumps - Cast iron, stainless steel - Overflowing cut-off

  6. Facilities Maintenance Routine Cleansing : • Water Tank - Quarterly • Water Feature - Filtration when in use • Swimming Pool - Filtration when in use - Water sampling (bacteria) • A/C Condensation Tray - Mosquito breeding - Legionnaire’s disease

Environmental Management Common Water Conservation Features (3 ‘R’) : • Reduce - Self-closing/electronic sensing device - High level cut-off device - Irrigation programming to minimize evaporation - Educate/encourage occupants to conserve water • Reuse - Emptying water feature/pool for cleaning

Environmental Management • Recycle - Re-circulation system for for water feature/pool - Discourage pesticides & chemical fertilizers on vegetation (pollute underground water/stream/harbour) - Control chlorine content to meet EPD requirement before discharge of pool water - Control grease trap discharge to meet EPD requirement - Participate community programme
