  1. Bridal Jewellery – A Part of Solah Shringar In any wedding, bride is always at the forefront of scene. Her looks, attire, jewellery and persona all are the focus of guests around. Every bride aspires to look at her best on all those wedding events and of course the Big Day. She also goes for proper fitness and make up routine well in advance to get the desired results. Bridal jewellery is one of the most important part of her overall attire and the costliest one as well. So, it needs extra attention not only from herself but from her parents, in-laws and all the close relatives. A bride is said to adorn jewellery on her big day so as to wearing Solah Shringaar (Sixteen Adornments). Right kind of jewellery becomes an integral part of all her adornments. The bride has to look stunning and elegant on the wedding day. There are many items in jewellery which the bride adores on her whole body which once worn completes full Shringaar along with her dress and other accessories. Main items thereof are briefly mentioned here under: Mangalsutra This is the most important item as it happens to be auspicious to wear Mangalsutra. This item is worn all through her life by the bride. It is made of gold and black beads embedded in small rings type of supporting. Neclace & Ear Rings These two items are the most visible part of entire jewellery. She has to match them with dress like Saree or Lehenga. Both necklace and earrings match with each other and form parts of a complete set. Colour and design may be customized with individual liking and preferences. Maang Tika This item is adored on the forehead of the bride. The hair stylist of the bride has to keep this in mind as it requires parting of hairs from top center. That makes room to accommodate Maang Tika comfortably and in a supporting way. This item can be in different designs and embedded with colorful stones to get elegance. In some of the cultures, instead of Maang Tika, crowns are worn especially towards southern part of our country.

  2. Nose Ring / Nath Another important item is the nose ring forming part of bridal jewellery. The design thereof is matched with necklace / earrings. Bangles / Kada & Arm Bands For bride’s arms, Bangles being the sign of the marital rituals are worn in both the hands. Both kinds of Bangles made in Gold and glass are worn and the colour thereof again matches with her attire. Arm Bands are normally worn in upper portion of the arm which enhances elegance and style of whole attire. Rings The bride also wears 2-3 rings along with Hath phool. Rings may include the engagement ring and others gifted by her parents/ in laws. Waist Band / Tagri This is worn on the waist, over the saree or the lehenga, as the case may be. This is a traditional items which enhances the grace of middle part of body. It also supports the heavy wedding dress worn by the bride like a belt to keep them in place. Anklets and Toe Rings Last but not the list, in order to adore the legs, the bride has to wear anklets and toe rings in her feet. These are made of silver as gold is not meant to be worn in the feet. All these items makes it part of the whole Jewellery Adornments for the Bride on her Wedding Day and with those wears, she will truly be at her best in Solah Shringaar.
