History • First ISRSE was held in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1962 • Organized by the Willow Run Laboratories of the University of Michigan (later, the Environmental Research Institute of Michigan [ERIM]) • Thirty-two symposia have been held since • Oldest continuous remote sensing conference in the world
Organization • In 1994, the International Center for Remote Sensing of Environment (a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation) created to take responsibility for ISRSE • Symposium oversight is provided by the International Committee on Remote Sensing of Environment (ICORSE) • In 2000, ICORSE became a standing committee of International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS)
