Brasshouse Language Centre introduces Asset Languages, a standardised assessment scheme that covers 30 languages from entry level to level 5. Recognize language learners' achievements at all stages of language learning through a unique languages profile. The can-do statements:Speaking Breakthrough Stage Grade 1 I can say/repeat a few words and short simple phrases. Grade 2 I can answer simple questions and give basic information. Grade 3 I can ask and answer simple questions and talk about my interests. Preliminary Stage Grade 4 I can take part in a simple conversation and I can express my opinions.
The great thing about Asset Languages is that it actually recognises what pupils can do, not what they’ve learnt on a course or programme of study…..we haven’t had to alter the way we teach languages in order to offer the qualification.Liz Ellis Bournville Junior School
