  1. 2011 School Dress Code Policies

  2. School Dress Code Policies • School dress code policies were collected from 132 public school systems in Alabama. • Data was collected for the 2011 school year by Tobacco Area Coordinators, the Tobacco Surveillance and Evaluation Coordinator, and the Youth Mini-Grant Coordinator. • The purpose for the data collection is to identify schools systems without a tobacco dress code. Local area coordinators will discuss implementation of a tobacco clause with school systems.

  3. School Dress Code Policy • A school dress code with a tobacco dress code prohibits students from wearing clothing with pictures, writing, and/or symbols promoting the use of tobacco. • A school dress code with a uniform policy requires students to wear specific clothing approved by the school district. • The dress code policies can be found on the individual school system’s website or in the student handbook, which is distributed at the beginning of each school year to students.
