  3. Creates the research need for the development of the Virtual Product Development System Vision: Research Direction Web-based Collaborative Information Systems Distributed, Collaborative New Product Development

  4. Research Issues • Establish the Information system foundation by which globally distributed, collaborating engineers can design and develop world-class products quickly and cost-effectively. • Develop the framework in which global engineers can actively participate and proactively develop products. Specifically, the framework will provide the decision solutions to: • How should a company select partners to perform the constituent responsibilities of a business initiative? • What is a suitable methodology to analyze conflicts among engineers? • What is an appropriate mechanism for engineers to converge to an agreeable design?
