  4. The Insufficient SacrificeRomans 3:21-23 • It did not remove sin • It did not perfect • It could not change the heart • It was not desired by God

  5. The Insufficient SacrificeRomans 3:21-23 “…in His divine forbearance He had passed over former sins…” Romans 3:25b Forbearance - anochē (Gr.) - Indulgence, temporary toleration. Passed over - paresis (Gr.) – bypass, passing over, disregarding.

The Perfect SacrificeRomans 3:24-26 “…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiationby Hisblood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness…” Romans 3:23-25a

  7. The Perfect SacrificeRomans 3:24-26 Justified – dikaioō (Gr.) -to declare, pronounce, one to be just, righteous. Put Forward – protithēmi (Gr.) – to set forth before the eyes, designed beforehand. Propitiation - hilastērion (Gr.) – a place of conciliation; appeasement; mercy seat!!
