Hiring Process • HR coordinates hiring with Wing Commander, NHQ/FM, and the assigned Wing Financial Analyst (WFA) • Positions are posted & advertised for 2 weeks • Qualified candidate applications are forwarded to the WFA & Wing Commander • 3 applicants are chosen to interview • The Wing Commander and WFA should attend the interviews • All applicants are asked the same questions and evaluations sheets are completed for each • Evaluations sheets are forwarded to HR who will call the selectee to make offer • HR will conduct reference checks, background screening, and schedule drug screening • Once the candidate accepts the position, HR will coordinate start date with Wing Commander and notify all non-select candidates
Supervision • Assigned Wing Financial Analyst is the supervisor with “dotted-line” supervision from Wing Commander • HR will still handle normal HR items such as benefits, pay, worker’s comp, and taxes • WFA will handle time card issues and assist with any questions about actual job duties
Position Description & Job Duties • All assigned job duties must be from the approved Wing Administrator Duties list that was provided by NHQ/HR • Job duties will be listed on the Position Description (PD) provided by HR • The PD must signed by the Wing Administrator and returned to HR • PD can be reviewed at each change in command • All changes must be approved by HR, the assigned WFA, and reviewed with the Wing Administrator • Any changes will require a new PD be created and signed
Time & Attendance Rules • Must clock in and out from work computer • Must take a lunch if working more than 5 hours in day • Lunch breaks must be uninterrupted • All time worked over schedule must have prior approval from HR • The maximum hours worked per day is 10 hours • May not work outside of schedule to “make up” time • Telecommuting is not allowed • Access to e-mail and other work related items from phones or personal devices is prohibited
Time & Attendance Issues • Forgetting to clock in or out • Not approving time card • Not entering paid time off • Working outside of approved schedule without approval • Clocking in or out from personal devices
Worker’s Compensation Claims • Assess injury and have the WA seek medical attention if necessary • Inform the medical facility or provider that the injury is work related • Contact Roz King Mallory at NHQ/HR as soon as possible (334-953-9021) • Send an e-mail to Roz at rking@capnhq.gov containing a brief description of injury, date and time of accident, cause of injury, and name and phone numbers for any witnesses • Forward all paperwork from medical facility to Roz by COB the next day • HR will handle the claim with our insurance provider • WA should be sure to follow all care instructions carefully
Performance Appraisals • Appraisal period of 1 July – 30 June • Will utilize input from WFA, Wing Commander, and Director of Finance • Based upon key competencies decided at the beginning of each appraisal period • Meeting expectations is not “bad” • Only those who exceed will be eligible for incentives • All who meet may be eligible for pay increases depending on budget • Goals for current period will be set soon
