Improving the automated burst trigger scheme at the magnetopause DUSK Subsolar DAWN # of magnetopause crossings per day July 1 Dec 27 Total duration of magnetopause crossings per day (in minutes) 15 mins/day (in minutes) • - With the scheme of being able to store up to 16 days of 15-minute burst data, it is likely that • all MP crossings can be transmitted. • This was based SITL selection of optimal burst interval for each magnetopause crossing. • Goal: Automate the burst interval selection to minimize SITL involvement. Can be done now!

  2. THEMIS 10-minute burst buffers are too long: Waste of burst data • MMS: 10s burst buffers will result in gaps in magnetopause interval: Need to patch gaps BGSM Ions (eV) VGSM Density FOM based on DBz
