  2. WELCOME TO COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH NURSING • We will be integrating technology into your course this semester • Using Desire2Learn for course resources and Assignments including the Discussion Board • Assisting clients in the use of technology

  5. What Do You Need To DO? • Pick up NURS 147A Generic Packet • In AS Print Shop • Log into Desire2Learn NURS 147A. Sec. 06 • Bring copy for me to keep of: immunization, updated TB, health insurance, CPR

  6. What Else Do You Need To DO? • Pick up Keltner & Folks (2005); Mohr (2009); Arnold & Boggs Underwood (2007) and Martin & Sheet (2005) in Book Store • Read the NURS 147A Packets • Read the Description of Practica • TURN IN LOCATOR TO SEMESTER CHAIR OR 147B FACULTY TODAY

  7. What do we wear? What will we do? Professional clothing No torn jeans No short shorts Provide supportive therapy--teach, facilitate groups, medication counseling, & health counseling; assess for cardiometabolic syndrome & tardive dyskinesia Questions Most Often Asked

  8. What are the hours? When will we be on site? 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM Lunch is from 12 - 1 Supervision group will be from 1-2:00 PM An orientation is planned for 2/3 by various sites Questions Continued

  10. Who are the clients? • Persons with serious mental illnesses living in the community • DSM-IV Disorders include: Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorders, Depression, Dual Diagnoses, and Dissociative identity

  11. When & Where to Meet Next • Wednesday February 2nd • 8:30 AM • Industrial Studies 134A • Plan to be in orientation until 2:00 PM • Bring copies of your TB update & other immunizations & CPR • Log into Desire2Learn for course before 2/02/2011
