  3. First Steps….. • Meetings with ISC AD Unit • Presentation to Board • Develop AD section for Website • Communication to Clubs & Board • Commenced distribution of Wallet

  4. On going...... • Updating website • Regular liaising/queries with ISC • Some contact with FIG

  5. 2011 – ISC/Gymnastics Ireland Anti-Doping Strategy • Prompted by ISC • Developed an annual Education programme including the process of dealing with AD violations + template letters • In conjunction with ISC designed an internal Education Workshop

  6. Who needs support/information? Gymnasts Parents Coaches National Squads/Teams (11/12 yr olds +) National Squad Head of Delegation Staff Board Members Club Personnel

  7. Education Tools Used at Workshop • Wallet Card • What is Doping? • Sample Collection process • ISC Posters • Photos of Sample Vessels/Cards • National Testing Pool Leaflets/AD Rules • Food & Food Supplements • Promote ‘Real Winner’

  8. Development Squads/International Selection • Website (Pre/Post TUE) • Emails to clubs/VP’s • Consent forms • 1-2 Hour Workshop (…..5 held so far) • Educational Material -Letter to Parents • Queries • Role of Head of Delegation

  9. ISC Registered Testing Pool 2012– One member • New area for NGB • One to one support for gymnast on ‘Whereabouts’ completion (initially) • Exceptional Support from ISC!

  10. Age not relevant…….! • Young gymnasts tested abroad….. • On-going issues… • Fear of Testing by young person • Child Protection concerns(always have representative) • Parents education/understanding…

  12. What is working well? • Backing of Gymnastics Ireland Board/CEO • Internal Workshops (feedback/discussion) • Letters to Parents • Handing queries promptly • Regular communication to members & parents • Established as ADO

Issues/Potential issues/Comments….. • Many Disciplines within gymnastics • Parents/Coaches (not checking Eirpharm/Globaldro) • Individuals not checking the exact medication or dosage • Queries on supplements • Fear of handling a positive test • Consider setting up a Working Group between NGB’s Anti Doping Officers’s
