What is “Soap opera”? A soap opera, sometimes called "soap" for short, is an ongoing, episodic work of dramatic fiction presented in serial format on television or radio.
History • Soap operas appeared in the USA and were broadcast initially by radio. The first present soap opera considers “Betty and Bob” (the first transfer on October, 10th 1932). • In 1947 there was a first television soap opera under name “A Woman to Remember”.
Not final Soap opera — one of genres of teleserials. Differ a large quantity of series, can act in film and be broadcast by years, have certain genre features
Slow rate Because of the big frequency of display of a soap opera (usually five times a week), it is compelled to keep slow rate of a narration. Thus, the plot is clear to the televiewer who has passed some episodes or in general the serial only has started to look.
Drama and emotional character One more sign of a soap opera is drama and emotional character of a plot. Dramatic effect flashes and ceases in parallel plots not simultaneously, and by turns.
