Decision Support Systems Workshop • Objectives • To launch GECAFS research in DSS, and in particular to determine: • The nature of DSS in general and the modelling tool in particular • Which output parameters are needed by policy makers and at what resolution • Which input parameters are needed by model designers • How to use model for spatial analyses (GIS?) • What other aspects of DSS and modelling need to be considered • Next steps

Decision Support Systems Workshop • Anticipated outputs • Improved understanding of nature of decision making in food / socioeconomic / environmental issues. • Review of DSS approaches. • Clarified role DSS and associated modelling tools in GECAFS analyses. • Nature and resolution of output parameters. • Nature and resolution of input parameters. • Initial plans for developing GECAFS DSS crosscutting theme and links to other DSS development groups. • Plan for follow-up.
