BIM FORUM BIM FORUM #2 Example of interaction’s problem between CATIA and REVIT SMB-SE
WORKFLOW STEP file SMB/DOP CATIA SMB/DOP REVIT CATIA model SAT file SMB/DOP CATIA EN/CV, EN/EL,… Cabletrays, Pipes, … Drawingswith dimensions SMB-SE
First problem Lost of dimensions in CATIA with an updated model from REVIT Model from REVIT loaded in CATIA Workon the model thendrawingswith dimensions SMB-SE
First problem New model from REVIT loaded in CATIA Replacement of all the product Dimensions on the drawings are lost The cause is the replacement of the original STEP file => new objects SMB-SE
First problem Sameproblemwith multi-body. • Sameproblemwith replacement of one part • The dimensions of the unchangedwalls are stillthere, just dimensions of updatedwall to change • But fine onlywith a few modifications SMB-SE
First problem Proposed solution • Use shared axis to put dimensions • Axis normallydoes not move a lot during a project • Use main axis to avoid modification problems • In case of modification, skeleton/publication method? SMB-SE
Second problem Families in REVIT with a lot of littleelements are convertedinto a verybigassembly in CATIA Example: grating In REVIT => multiple objects for a small surface In CATIA, one part for one object So for a room filledwithgrating, a CATIA model verybig • SOLUTIONS • In REVIT, simplify the families (but lost of details) • In CATIA, method 1 part/multiple instances?? SMB-SE
