  1. Joint Drafting Group on State of the Environment and Eionet Workshop – overview task 3 – Scope of SOER parameters 13/14 November 2006 EEA Copenhagen

  2. Task 3 – Scope of SOER parameters Mandate: • what is reported: determinants or information on • e.g. physico-chemical (nitrate, phosphate, etc.) • biological (benthic invertebrates, fish etc.) • hydromorphological (habitat features, river flow etc.) quality elements • at which temporal and spatial aggregation • in close cooperation with the work on formulation of reporting sheets and the compliance checking drafting group

  3. Task 3 – Scope of SOER parameters • Joint meeting 12 October 2005 • Drafting Group meetings on • 8 March 2006 • 1 September 2006 • Comments received and revisions made after each meeting

  4. Task 3 – Scope of SOER parameters • General aspects on • EEA assessments and required information • Relationship between monitoring sites, determinands and water bodies • Options fro aggregation of data (spatial and temporal) • Criteria for selecting (representative) monitoring sites to be used for SOE-reporting and EEA assessments

  5. Scope of SOE parameter 3 blocks of reporting sheets: • Surface water • Nutrients - current Eionet water + current CSI • HZ - Eionet water + test indicators • Biological elements under development • Water quantity test phase to be further developed • Emissions to be further developed in line with UWWTD and E-PRTR • Morphological elements to be developed

  6. Scope of SOE parameter • Ground water • Nutrients - current Eionet water + current CSI • HZ - Eionet water + test indicators • Quantity to be developed • Emissions to be developed

  7. Scope of SOE parameter • Transitional, coastal and marine waterdiscussed in WFD group as covered by WFD, main development under marine strategy process • Nutrients – current Eionet water + current CSI • HZ in biota - Eionet water + test indicators • Biological elements under development - link to SEBI process • Morphological condition to be developed

  8. Further process • final draft by beginning 2007 • All sheets drafted so far • Proposal for further development and list of issues to be clarified for not develped sheets • First draft of agreed sheets (basic set around old EIONET water data flow) for German water directors and summer MB •  May meeting of NFPs and strategic coordination group • Further development of technical implementation in WISE together with realisation Art.8 reporting until sept. 2007 • Task 4 and 5 • Final guidance for WD and EEA MB in Nov. 2007

  9. Selection of good SOE-sites

  10. Developemt of Eionet-water into SOE-data flow under WISE • How many Eionet-Water stations will you have in your 2007 network? • How does this compare with the previous network? • What will you deliver (in terms of parameters/determinands) in the 2007/2008 water priority data flows to SOE-WISE? • How well does this cover all water bodies of all statuses and all relevant characteristics?
