Extended Stationary Phase Survival of GBS Strain A909 in Varying pH Conditions

This study examines the extended stationary phase survival of Group B Streptococcus (GBS) strain A909 under different pH conditions. GBS cultures were maintained at 37°C, sampled periodically for viable colony forming units per milliliter (CFU/mL), and plated on Todd-Hewitt agar. Results, presented in a supplementary figure, display mean and standard deviation from triplicate experiments, showcasing the survival trends over time at pH 7 (THB) and pH 5 (THB).

GBS was cultured as standing cultures at 37°C and periodically sampled for viable CFU/mL determination by serial dilution and plating on THA. As 100 µL from 10-4-10-6 sample dilutions were plated, the limit of detection was 105 CFU/mL. Results show mean and SD from triplicate experiments.■, pH 7 THB; ♦, pH 5 THB. CFU/mL Time (weeks)
