  10. Homework • Pick one artist from the slide show and answer the following questions: • What is the name of the artwork, or any artwork by this artist? Include a picture of the artwork you choose. • Did they use coils, slabs, the wheel, or pinch pots to create their artwork? • What kind of textures did they use? • Is it organic or geometric shapes? • Tell me a little about the artist • Brief history • WHY do they choose to make the kind of art that they do?

  12. Project Assignment • Create a large non-representational sculpture • Primarily use slabs • It should be free standing, balanced, & sturdy • Use minimal amounts of newspaper • No words, animals, people or symbols

  13. Grading • At least 12 inches tall – yes, actually TALL • Hollow – no air bubbles! • Texture – intentional and perfect • Focus on FORM and SHAPE • Thumbnail sketches from 3 different angles • One solid color of glaze • No words, symbols, people, animals = truly non-representational
