  3. Qualified North Carolina high school juniors and seniors can get a jump-start on their two-year or four-year college coursework while still in high school.And, tuition is free!

  4. Two Pathways Available Students may choose to follow either: • The Career & Technical • Education Pathway • The College Transfer • Pathway

  5. College Transfer Pathway Requirements • High school juniors and seniors may enroll if they have... • A weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher. • Demonstrate college readiness on one of the approved placement tests. • Usually the Pre-ACT, PSAT, or the College’s placement test, NC-DAP

  7. Career & Technical Education Pathway Requirements • High school juniors and seniors may enroll if they have... • A recommendation of their high school principal or designee OR a weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher. • Met the prerequisites for the career pathway.

Eligibility Requirements • To maintain eligibility for continued enrollment, a student must • Continue to make progress toward high school graduation, and • Maintain a 2.0 in college coursework after completing two courses. • A student who falls below a 2.0 GPA after completing two college courses will be subject to the college’s policy for satisfactory academic progress.

  13. “I believe the Career and College Promise courses I took at Rowan-Cabarrus not only helped with my admittance to UNC, but gave me a leg-up with the college experience as a whole.”– Michael Walker Michael Walker, a 2015 graduate of Cox Mill High School in Concord, is currently in his second year at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) and plans to be a dentist. By working with his high school guidance counselor and Rowan-Cabarrus, he was able to strategically plan his courses to earn college credit while still in high school. Michael cut his undergraduate degree time to just two and a half years!
