Students use leadership binders to track goals, grades, and more. Our school is a recognized "Lighthouse School" and we prioritize student-led conferences. Come join us!

  5. Schedule • 5 Day Block Schedule rotating A-E • If school is closed due to weather, that letter day will be made up the next day. (It will not be skipped.) • Lunch is a different time each day • Snack is allowed on days with 1:00 lunch (A & D days) • Nut free food only • Students may leave a non-perishable snack in their cubby

  6. Rules/Behavior Plan • PBSIS - positive classroom technique • Blue Knight Nickels & Class Leader Links • Consequences • Loss of classroom job • Child or I will call home • Vice-principal/Principal

Math & Science • Shift in curriculum • Now we are “standards-based” vs. “chapter-based” • Hands-on activities versus book work • Assessments: • Quizzes – Announced & Unannounced • Tests are ALWAYS announced • Math Fact Drills – 3 minutes, 90 problems • Highest grade is a 90 (This is NOT a percent.) • NOT graded

  8. Grades Breakdown • Tests – 50% • Always announced • Quizzes – 40% • Announced & unannounced • “Swag Practice” (Homework) – 10% • Complete, Incomplete, or Missing • Posted on my class website

  9. “SWAG Practice” = Homework Work will either be… • “pre-work” that will guide instruction for the next day OR • extension of classwork **iReady is HIGHLY suggested

  10. I-Ready • Highly suggest to use it outside of school • Consistently brings back skills already taught as well as new skills the students will learn • Highly individualized - Tiers instruction to the level of each student • If the material gets more difficult, that’s a good sign! It means that your child is doing well and iReady is testing to see what else they can handle.

  11. NJSLA Testing • Dates: • ELA & Math: April 20 - May 29 • Science: May 4 - June 5 • More specific dates will be determined as we get closer

  13. Conferences • STUDENT-LED • Make sure you sign up when you’re child is available to come too • Please fill out conference sheet that will be placed outside in the hallway • Options: Mon, Oct. 21st & Tues, October 22nd • Time slots available from 3:00-7:45pm each night
