Committee Functioning • Three / Four person Committee deliberates, look into designated issues • They have to provide solution in a fixed time frame • They Propose Solutions /Option to the remaining EC members • Most of the time their recommendations are adopted • If the resolution does not come in, voting is done to decide on issues, their options have to be voted upon in 24 hrs timeframe, based on majority vote decision is adopted • IT IS A COMPLETELY DEMOCRATIC EPROCESS • IT BRINGS PARTICIPATION FROM ALL AND A FOCUS ON ACTIVITIES • TO MAINTAIN IMPARTIALITY, IF A MEMBER TEAM IS INVOLVED, EVEN THOUGH HE MAY BE PART OF THAT COMMITTEE , AS A GROUND RULE THAT MEMBER HAS TO STAY AWAY WITHOUT ANY EXCEPTIONS

  11. NJSBCL - Vision • To promote and establish, the sport of softball cricket as a minority sport in the state of New Jersey. Major thrust has been given to promote cricket in schools, colleges and universities. League also aims to bring together sport of cricket, its players, families, spectators, local & county officials and administrators

  12. 2011 Season Highlights • Team registrations up from 68 to 72. • Target Season Time-line: First round games begin - 04/23/2011 Finals (tentative) - 10/8/2011 • Introduced Pre-Quarter final in both divisions which was requested by many teams last year. • More games for every team - 18 (Division I) and 19 (Division II) which will ensure competitive cricket running into middle of September. • There are No Bye weeks this year other than 3 regular holidays. • Pre-Quarter final matches will be played on higher ranked teams home ground and will be umpired by other division  • Since some South Jersey & North Jersey teams in Division 2 have home grounds, they were NOT considered as AWAY teams. [For reference: same we do for Toms River in Division 1] • Team / Player Stats – Up-to-date statistics will be available at www.njsbcl.com site as soon as game score cards are posted • An Annual Gala awards night will be planned for this season after the Finals

  13. 2011 Advertising Package • NJSBCL- A leading sports institution promoting the game of Cricket in north east region of USA. Established in 2000, NJSBCL got incorporated in the State of New Jersey as ‘Not for Profit’ in 2008. NJSBCL has strength of 76 Teams and 2500 plus members. NJSBCL is deemed member of USACA (USA Cricket Association) which is affiliated with ICC (International Cricket Council) • NJSBCL's vision is to promote and establish, the sport of softball cricket as a minority sport in the state of New Jersey. Major thrust has been given to promote cricket in schools, colleges and universities. It also aims to bring together the sport of cricket and its players, families, spectators, local and county officials and administrators. • Demographics: NJSBCL members have great demographics. More than 70% are professionals working in Information Technology, Finance, Management professionals and the rest comprise of Business Owners. The age group is 18 to 40 and average income levels are 65 to 150k. These target members with families go up to 10,000 reachable entities. • NJSBCL has a website www.njsbcl.com, it has an annual event where renowned personalities grace the occasion. • This year promises to be another exciting year with enthusiastic interest in our organization with teams participating for the 2 division trophies. • Cricket is gaining popularity in New Jersey. Various townships/counties are making efforts to support by customizing grounds especially for cricket. Counties are making cricket pitches, allotting dedicated grounds for cricket games and providing permits for those grounds in central and north jersey We would like to invite you to support our organization and be part of this wonderful game of cricket.

  14. 2011 Advertising Package (contd.) • The NJSBCL Finals 2011 will be held at the end of our summer season. The event promises to be an exciting one with the best of our league battling it out for the top honors. The expected attendance will be above 500 – league members with their family, friends and invited dignitaries to enjoy a good game of cricket. We will also have Live Commentary with music that makes it an entertaining event for the entire family. After the prize distribution everyone is invited to join for a buffet lunch at the venue. • NJSBCL Finals is supported by various county/township and NJ Assembly officials. We have dignitaries like Assemblymen and County Council members attending the event. • The Finals will be a gala five-hour event consists of a 3 hour game with two innings played by both teams with three, 5 or 10 minute breaks in between. • NJSBCL concludes the season with a Gala Annual Awards Night. This is attended by most members of the league, renowned personalities and celebrities. This is a fun filled evening with lots of activities and a gala dinner. • The sponsors would benefit from having their names and logos advertised throughout the 5 hour event on the ground and their names announced at the Awards Presentations. Main Event sponsor will also have the opportunity to present some of these awards and prizes for the contests

Rules Overview - 2011 • Innings definition • In NJSBCL each game consists of 2 innings of 16 overs each • Each bowler can bowl a maximum of 4 overs • Player registration & movement • All teams have to register their players at NJSBCL. No player will be allowed to play without accepting the waiver.  • Only teams with at least 14 players registered will be included in schedule • New teams have to declare their home-grounds • Captains and Umpires have the right to verify list of registered players before start of match • Once registered with a team, a player cannot switch teams after 3 matches • A player should have played a total of atleast 6 matches to play in the knock-out rounds • Tie Breaker • For Round-robin rounds rules will be applied in following order  • The winner of the head to head competition. If still equal  • The team with the highest net run rate, (TOTAL NRR for the round against all teams, as you see on Points table on  NJSBCL website • If we have a TIE on NRR to third decimal place, we will use NRR against common opponents to break the TIE  • For Knock-out rounds • Tie breaker will be in the form of a super over as per rules defined in the rules book

Grounds • Each team with a home ground gets to play around 50% of matches in home ground • Grounds must satisfy general conditions specified in the rules book • Points Related - • Win = 10 points • Tie = 5 points • Start-time • League's recommended start time = 7.30 AM to 8.45 AM • Exceptions possible with all parties agreeing • Minimum 8 players required at stipulated start time, if not the team losses toss  • Delayed or Interrupted games • For Truncated matches – • Minimum of 8 overs per inning is required • Each bowler cannot bowl more that 25% of the total # of overs. E.g.. . If it is 8 overs, the restriction is 2 overs per bowler, if it is 9, one bowler will bowl 3 and rest 2 each, if it is 10, two bowlers will bowl 3 and rest 2 each, if it is 11, it is 3 bowling 3 overs and 1 bowling 2, and at 12 overs it is 3 overs each....and...so..on • Penalty for delayed start – • If at least 8 players of a team are not available at the decided start time, the team will loose One (1) over for every five (5) minutes delay, from their batting inning. • If at least 8 players of a team are not available even after 45 minutes from the decided start time, the match will be cancelled, and ten (10) points will be awarded to the other team which was ready with at least 8 players.

Umpiring • Teams are expected to send 2 neutral umpires as per the schedule published • The umpires must satisfy general requirements defined in the rules book/umpire guide-lines • Auto Calculation of Penalty Points • Umpire No Show • Delayed Scores Upload • LBW & Leg Byes • NJSBCL does not consider both LBW and leg byes • Disputes • Disputed games shall be arbitrated by the executive committee NJSBCL along with representatives of both teams and the officiating umpires • Protests • Can be submitted to the Executive Committee by Captain, notifying the opposing captain and the umpires • A fees will be collected to arbitrate on the protest.  If protest is upheld, the fees will be reimbursed   • Substitution • NJSBCL allows substitution only for injuries occurring during a game.  Pre-existing injuries are not valid • Umpires can consider special conditions/circumstances.  Umpires decision is final ! • Further rules available in Rules Book

  21. Forfeits • NJSBCL is very strict with reference to forfeits by teams • If a team forfeits due to any reason, they will be black-listed from the league • Discipline & Conduct • NJSBCL strictly prohibits • Alcoholic beverages in the grounds. This is a county level ordinance, and violators are subject to prosecution by law • NJSBCL will not tolerate any un-sportsman like conduct or behavior. Such conduct can be reported by the umpires, and the EC will investigate and take suitable action • Actions can be as severe as debarring players from playing in NJSBCL • Reporting disputes / suggestions etc. • Should be directed to EC@njsbcl.com, and not posted in the common forum • NJSBCL forum posting rules • No posting of complaints • No posting of personal or commercial ad • No posting regarding other cricket leagues
