ST.36 and Annex F EPO uses this Standard for: • Filling (request, demand, patent application, amendments) • Processing (Search report, WO-ISA, IPER) • Publication (application, specification, corrections) EPO plans to continue to use this standard but mainly for external data exchange. No substantial developments are foreseen but XML data structures will be kept updated and aligned with external data exchange needs.
WIPO Standard for Sequence Listings (ST.26) After adoption by CWS, EPO plans to work on the Transition ST.25 <-> ST.26 focusing on its implementation as soon as possible. EPO foresees an extensive use of this Standard for external data exchange (eg. applicants, DB providers, IPO’s).
ST.96 EPO does not plan to implement this Standard for data exchange, but will ensure compatibility ST.36 <-> ST.96 if and when required.
Legal status data EPO welcomes the use of XML structures for external exchange of Legal Status data. Currently EPO IT systems already use XML data structures for Legal Status data processing.
