The Million Dollar Case – Glenview Lawyer

My name is Barry Zlotowicz and I’m a Glenview lawyer. I often hear jokes about lawyers. I’m a personal injury lawyer and as such, have often been called an “ambulance chaser.” I take no offense to these jokes.

  1. TheMillionDollarCase–GlenviewLawyer MynameisBarryZlotowiczandI’maGlenviewlawyer.Ioftenhearjokesaboutlawyers. I’mapersonalinjurylawyerandassuch,haveoftenbeencalledan“ambulancechaser.”I takenooffensetothesejokes.ButwhatIdoobjecttoareoutrageousclaimsmadeby attorneystoconvinceanaccidentvictimtohirethem.Thisgivesalllawyersabadname.If youwantafairassessmentofyourcase,callusat312-848-9783. TheMillionDollarCase AcouplemonthsagoIreceivedacallfromawomanwhowasinjuredinanautoaccident. Shewasclimbingintothebackseatofaco-worker’scarwhensuddenlytheco-worker startedtodriveaway.Thevictimwasdraggedbehindthecarforapproximatelytwentyfeet. Intheprocess,shere-aggravatedapre-existingkneecondition. Shestartedcallinglawyerstoobtaininformation.Onelawyershespoketoimmediatelytold herthatshehada“million-dollarcase.”Mostpeoplewhentheyhearthatwouldgetpretty excited.Whodoesn’twantamilliondollars?Butshewasabitsuspiciousandcalledour officeforanotheropinion.

  2. “Amilliondollars”shetoldme.“Really,”Isaid.Iaskedheraboutherinjuriesand determinedthattheremightbeacase,dependingontheseverityofherinjury.Iaskedher howmuchinsurancethedriverofthevehiclehadandhowmuchunderinsured(UIM) insuranceshehad.Shedidn’tknow. PolitelyItoldher,“ifthedefendantonlyhasa$25,000.00insurancepolicy,whereisthe other$975,000.00comingfrom?” IllinoisInsurancePolicyRequirements IntheStateofIllinois,alldriversarerequiredtohaveaminimumof$25,000.00inliability coverage.Veryoften,thatisallthemoneythereistorecoverforyourmedicalbills,lost wagesandpainandsuffering. Assuch,itiscriticalthatyouhaveenoughuninsured/underinsuredmotoristcoverage–a minimumof$100,000.00,ifyoucanaffordit.Youcannotcontrolhowmuchinsurancethe otherguyhasbutyoucantakestepstoprotectyourself. PersonalInjurySettlements Thereasonsomanypeoplefallforexaggeratedevaluations–likethemillion-dollarcase– isthathugeverdictsaretheonlyverdictswehearaboutinthenewsmedia.It’snotsexyto reportonthesimpleautoaccidentwhichresultedinafracturedarmandsettledfor $50,000.00.Themediawouldrathertellyouaboutthemillion-dollarLiebeckvs.McDonalds Restaurantshotcoffeecase. Yet$25,000.00and$50,000.00recoveriesarefarmorecommonandrepresentwhatmost personalinjurysettlementslooklike.Sure,thereoccasionallyaremulti-million-dollarcases, buttheyarefewandfarbetween. FairandHonestAssessment Whenattemptingtodeterminehowmuchyourcaseisworth,youhavetotakeintoaccount avarietyoffactors.Thisincludestheamountofyourmedicalbills,theseverityofyour injury,whatinsurancecompanyyouaredealingwith,andmore. Ifyoucontactouroffice,onethingwecanguaranteeisthatwewillgiveyoufairandhonest assessmentofyourcase.Wewillhelpyouestablishreasonableexpectationssothatthere arenosurpriseswhentheinsurancecompanymakesits’firstoffer.Webelievethisisa

  3. goodpolicyallaround.Ithelpsusmeetourobligationtobehonestwithourclientsandalso givesourclientsaccurateinformationuponwhichtomakedecisionsabouthowtoproceed. ReadMore ContentSource:Blog|ChicagoLegalGroup
