Fife • The Fife is a very old flute with only 6 holes and no keys. • The Fife has been used for over 500 years in the military. • Fifes originally provided music for troops on the march.
Military Use • The military used maneuvers, marches and precise movements. • Eventually “calls” were written for the fife and drum to signal the different movements.
Drums • Drums are made with calf skins heads and ropes snares. • Snares vibrate on the bottom of the drum, making a rattling sound.
