TEA Guidance • In order to satisfy the TEA requirements for a proper RTI process, the district should implement: • (1) high-quality instruction and scientific, researched-based, tiered intervention strategies aligned with individual student need; • (2) frequent monitoring of student progress to make results-based academic or behavioral decisions; • (3) data-based school improvement; and • (4) the application of student response data to important educational decisions (such as those regarding placement, intervention, curriculum, and instructional goals and methodologies). Team Decisions • Student has met with success. • Continue with the intervention process. • Reevaluate and try new interventions • Refer to special education • Change student’s status in (SA)2 to move them to SEM.
Basic Concepts • All students are in the same database whether they are in SEM or (SA)2. • All SEM students are available in (SA)2(because all students are part of general education) • Not all (SA)2 students are available in SEM (because only special education students can be seen in SEM). • Once a student is in (SA)2, they can no longer be added in SEM via the Add Student button in SEM. • For a Gen. Ed. student to be available in SEM their SE status needs to be changed to “Referral”. (SA)2 - Student Information -> Enrollment -> Change SE status to Referral button
