Favorite Traditions • A favorite tradition is to pick small gifts from a container called the Urn Of Fate.
The Holiday Dinner • On Christmas Eve they eat Cenone witch is a meal with fish, pasta, vegetables, fresh fruit, and special sweets and cakes. But not meat.
Santa Claus • In Italy Instead of Santa Claus they have La Befana who is a kind but ugly witch. Legend says the Wise Men came to her house and asked for directions to Christ but she said she was to busy later she felt sorry and started to look for them. Now she travels around Italy looking for them on a broomstick giving gifts to the good and coal to the bad on January 6th.La Befana does not have Elfs.
Other Facts • Christmas starts on December 8th.They hang stockings on January 6th.They call Christmas Natale.
