HANNAH’S PRAYER PRAISE & THANKSGIVINGS- the joy of someone who has been delivered • Heart rejoices in the Lord • In the Lord my horn (strenght) is lifted high • Mouth boasts over my enemies
REASONS FOR PRAISING GOD: • FOCUS ON GOD’S GREATNESS & HOLINESS • Holy • No one like Him • Rock
OMNISCIENT: He knows everything. • Humbleness is required before Him: • He hears our words (our prayers)- pray to Him instead of being arrogant and proud and just speak words • He watches all our deeds
MIGHTY GOD: He has power over all things. • Powerful: (In contrast to the human circumstances) • Power in war: Warriors will not have victory over Him. The proud and arrogant and full will be destroyed • Power for the hungry: The hungry and the needy will be fed and will receive justice • Power for the impossible to happen: The barren women will have 7 children, She pines away (gets depressed) those who have many sons
MIGHTY GOD: He has power over all things. • Power over death and life: resurrection is possible • Power over poverty: He is the owner of all wealth • Power over our destiny: he can transform any situation • Power over the planet earth and its foundation • Power to protect His saints against the wicked • Power over the wicked
THE JUDGE OVER ALL THE EARTH • His judgment will come against His adversaries and the wicked
WHAT HANNAH DIDN’T KNOW • She had a need: a child • God had a plan: a prophet to be sent to Israel to organize the nation to become a kingdom • Her need intersected with God’s plan, and through prayer it was released.
WHAT HANNAH DIDN’T EXPECT • She was expecting her child. • God was expecting the moment to activate His plan in earth. • Samuel was God’s answer not only to Hannah, but to the nation of Israel. • Samuel was coming to replace the wicked sons of Eli and to start a new season where God would again speak to His people after 400 yrs of silence. • And that plan started with a need and was activated by a prayer.
MARY’S PRAYER Luke 1:46-55
PRAISE & THANKSGIVINGS • The joy of someone who has been blessed • Mary’s soul glorified the Lord • Her spirit rejoiced in God her Savior
REASONS FOR PRAISING GOD: • HE EXALTS HIS HUMBLE SERVANTS: • He has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. “All generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me”
HE IS HOLY: holy is his name. • HE IS MERCIFUL: His mercy extends to those who fear him, From generation to generation. • HE IS MIGHTY: He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; • HE SCATTERS THE PROUD: he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
HE IS THE JUDGE: He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. • HE TAKES CARE OF THE POOR AND NEEDY: He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. • HE IS FAITHFUL: He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, even as he said to our fathers."
PRAYER is God’s opportunity to be a Father to us • 28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Mat. 6:28-34)
PRAYER is a way to get what we need • 5Then he said to them, "Suppose one of you has a friend, and he goes to him at midnight and says, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, 6because a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have nothing to set before him.‘ 7"Then the one inside answers, 'Don't bother me. The door is already locked, and my children are with me in bed. I can't get up and give you anything.' 8I tell you, though he will not get up and give him the bread because he is his friend, yet because of the man's boldness he will get up and give him as much as he needs. • 9"So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. (Lk. 11:5-10)
PRAYER is partnership with CHRIST • EVERYTHING CHRIST WILL DO IN THE WORLD HE WILL DO WITH THE CHURCH NOW • THE CHURCH PRAYS IN THE NAME OF JESUS AND GOD, THE FATHER DOES.

Nothing happened without prayer in the early church 12:12 13:3 14:23 16:13, 16, 25 21:5 22:17 27:29 28:8 • Acts 1:14 • 2:42 • 3:1 • 4:24, 31 • 6:4 • Acts 8:15 • 10:5 • 11:5- supernatural • 12:5
Prayer: essential to relationship • THE DISCIPLES LEARNED WITH JESUS THAT IT WAS NECESSARY TO PRAY BEFOREDOING ANYTHING. • PRAYER FOR JESUS AND THE DISCIPLES WAS A WAY TO PARTNER WITH HIM ON HIS ACTIONS ON THE EARTH. • PRAYER IN THE RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST IS AS CONVERSING IS IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH A SPOUSE OR A FRIEND.
