Pelvis • Basic projections AP pelvis AP Axial sacroiliac joint Posterior oblique SI joints AP Pelvis Exposure Factors Patient Position supine Place arms at sides or across upper chest Place pillow for head and support under knees
Part position • Align medial sagittal plane of patient to center line of Table • Ensure that pelvis is not rotated • Separate legs and feet with internally rotation 15 degrees • Central Ray perpendicular • Center Point Midway between level of anterior superior iliac spine and symphysis pubis • Structure shown Pelvic girdle, sacrum& coccyx, femoral heads &neck
Patient Position • Supine with legs fully extended • Part position • Align medial sagittal plane to midline of table • Ensure no rotation of pelvis • Suspend respiration during exposure • Gonadal shielding is recommended • Central Ray • 30-45 degrees cephalic • Center Point • 2 inches below level of anterior superior iliac spines • Structure shown • Sacroiliac joints, L5-S1 junction and entire sacrum • AP Axial Sacroiliac joint
Patient Position • Supine • Elevate and support side of interest • 25- 30 degrees from table • Part position • Align medial sagittal plane passing • I inch medial to anterior superior iliac • spine on elevated side • Take both obliques for comparison • Central Ray • perpendicular • Center Point • 1 inch medial to ASIS • Structure shown • Sacroiliac joint away from film with open joint space • Oblique Sacroiliac joint
