Indicators for Quality Improvement (IQI) • What • Details of over 200 quality of care indicators • Purpose • a resource for local clinical teams providing a set of robust indicators from which they can select to support local quality improvement • a source of indicators which can be used for benchmarking and comparison • Also • Selected indicators to support patient choice through NHSChoices • Possible use in Quality accounts and CQUIN

  7. IQI Continuing Development • Expected to grow with input from right across Health & Social Care, in particular Royal Colleges and Specialist Societies • Developing governance and processes for indicator development

Support for further development • The IC is developing a wider indicator library • 25 national indicator sets, over 2,500 indicators • www.ic.nhs.uk/indicatorlibrary • In alignment with IQI, aiming to bring in standardisation, quality assurance and governance to indicators • Should avoid duplication and share work • Supports use and development of indicators, without limiting innovation
