Colour • Try to make sure you are incorporating a variety of colours within the meal • You should aim to “Eat the Rainbow”
Temperature • A meal plays out well if there is a variation in temperature • A cool salad with hot spaghetti, and warm garlic bread
Use What’s on Hand • Check your pantry • What do you often keep stocked at all times at home? • These are staples
Consider the Budget • What does your family normally spend on a meal? • How many members are there in your family?
Shop the Flyer • Check flyers weekly and pick out several main meal components around which to plan your meals • Stock up when something goes on sale, freezing it for a later date
